Director, RNA Science & Technology at METiS Therapeutics

Xiaoju (Ju) Zhang has a wealth of experience in the data science and computational biology fields. Xiaoju (Ju) is currently the Director of RNA Science & Computational Biology at METiS Therapeutics, a role they have held since 2022. Prior to this, they were a Senior Data Scientist and Data Scientist III at Seer from 2020 to 2022. From 2015 to 2020, they held two roles at Abbott - Data Scientist and Systems Engineer. In their role as Systems Engineer, they were responsible for data mining, predictive modeling, and service ticket recommendation based upon large size instrumental senor and log data with pattern recognition and machine learning. Additionally, they developed Prognostic Health Monitoring algorithms and built an instrumental error codes based TF-IDF system to search relevant service tickets. Before this, they held a Computational Biologist Intern role at Ambry Genetics from 2015 to 2020, where they built a 100 species whole genome, cDNA, and protein sequence alignments for variant assessment, developed a tool to display variants position and spacial contacts on a protein structure diagram, and classified Breast Cancer (BRCA) variants based on phylogenetic scores.

Xiaoju (Ju) Zhang has a comprehensive educational background. Xiaoju (Ju) holds a Ph.D in RNA Computational Biology from the University of Rochester, a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, a Master's degree in Molecular Genetics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Sichuan University. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Analyzing Big Data with Hive and NLP with Python for Machine Learning Essential Training from LinkedIn, Structuring Machine Learning Projects and Neural Networks and Deep Learning from deeplearning.ai, Introduction to R Programming from Edx-Microsoft, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF) from Amazon Web Services.
