Hong Wang

Principal Environmental Scientist at Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities

Hong Wang has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental science and engineering. They started their career as a Research Associate at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985. After that, they worked as an International Cooperation and Infrastructure Project Manager at Golden State Group, managing various engineering projects with a significant investment. They also served as a Senior environmental, safety and health engineer at Rhône-Poulenc. Later on, they joined the Regional Institute of Environmental Technology as the Manager of the Study and Training Department, and European Commission Projects, where they facilitated environmental cooperation and trade between European and Asian countries. Hong Wang further pursued their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Minnesota, followed by a role as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Florida. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Environmental Scientist at the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities. Additionally, they are a Member of the City Council Environmental Quality Committee at the City of Shoreview, where they provide recommendations on environmental issues.

Hong Wang has a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management from Technische Universität Dresden (1991-1992), a Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from Nanyang Technological University Singapore (1996-1999), a Master of Science (MS) in Environmental Chemistry from Chinese Academy of Sciences (1988-1991), and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Environmental Engineering from Kunming University of Science and Technology. Additionally, they have a Certificate in Project Manager Development Program from Metropolitan Council and Project Management Institute (PMI) (2016-2017).
