Vanessa Perry DeReef, PhD has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Vanessa started their career as an Educator at Chicago Public Schools in 1996 and dedicated over 20 years to this role until retiring in 2017. In 2018, Vanessa joined Metropolitan Family Services as the Chief Training Officer/Metropolitan Peace Initiatives. Vanessa held this position until 2019 when they founded VHISIONS with Vanessa Perry DeReef, where they work as the Owner. At VHISIONS, they provide coaching for leaders and their teams, emphasizing their passion for building organizations and helping leaders achieve their goals.

Vanessa Perry DeReef, PhD has a diverse educational background spanning over several years. Vanessa began their academic journey in 1991 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in History in 1996.

Following their undergraduate studies, Vanessa pursued a Master's degree in Secondary Education at DePaul University. This program, focused on Teaching and Learning, provided their with a solid foundation in education. Vanessa successfully completed their M.Ed in Secondary Education in 2004.

Motivated to expand their expertise and support students in a more comprehensive manner, Vanessa enrolled at Loyola University Chicago in 2002. Here, they pursued a Master's in School Counseling, earning their degree in 2004. In addition to their master's degree, Vanessa also obtained a Type 73 Certificate, which qualifies their to provide counseling and guidance services in educational settings.

Branching out further, Vanessa enrolled at Loyola University Chicago once again in 2004. This time, they pursued a Leadership and Administration Certificate, Type 75, focusing on Urban Education and Leadership. This program equipped their with valuable skills in leading and administrating within an urban educational context. Vanessa completed this certificate in 2006.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to specialize in the field of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Vanessa joined Adler University in 2018. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctorate in this field and is expected to complete their studies in 2023.
