Joanne So Young Dill has a diverse work experience. Joanne So Young is currently serving as the Chair of the Great Lakes Protection Fund Board, where they ensure sound investment, programmatic strategy, and compliance. In 2020, they took on the role of Chief of Staff and Communications Director for Commissioner Marcelino Garcia at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. In 2022, they participated in the IWIL Training Academy to prepare and propel women to pursue elected and appointed positions in Illinois. Joanne also participated in the Water Leadership Institute Cohort 2021, which focused on developing and emerging leaders in the water industry. Prior to these roles, Joanne held positions such as Director of Strategic Initiatives and Director of the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum at Friends of the Chicago River. Their earlier experiences include working as a Program and Partnerships Manager at Berklee College of Music and various project management and editing roles at Pearson Education.

Joanne So Young Dill completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Economics from Boston University in the years 1996 to 2000.
