Jussi Viitanen is an experienced professional in forest management and conservation, currently serving as Erätalouspäällikkö at Metsähallitus since October 2019, focusing on fishing and hunting experiences in Finland. Prior to this role, Jussi held significant positions at the European Forest Institute from September 2010 to September 2019, including Head of Unit and Deputy Head of the FLEGT & REDD Unit, contributing to the implementation of EU initiatives in forest governance. Jussi's earlier experience includes working as an Adviser at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from February 2005 to September 2010 and as a Forest Management and Conservation Adviser in various international projects from June 1991 to January 2005, across multiple countries in regions such as Central America and Africa. Jussi Viitanen holds a Master's degree in Agriculture and Forestry with a specialization in Forest Economics from the University of Helsinki.
