James Gawn has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and software development. James started their career as a Software Developer at RAP International in 2007, where they developed a tool for merging multilingual industrial safety databases. James then moved on to Swansea University Student Union as a Web Editor, where they created and managed the student newspaper website.
In 2008, James joined Royal Bank of Scotland as a Credit Markets Developer, working on a desktop client application for credit derivatives. James also served as an Algorithmic Trading Developer, responsible for the development of a support tool for a trading system. James later became a UI Developer, RAD Team Lead, Support Manager & UI Development Team Lead, Delivery Manager, and finally the Head of Mobile Banking Delivery at the bank.
In 2019, James joined Bó as the Head of Web and Mobile Engineering, where they led the technical execution of the mobile app and web platforms. James provided technical leadership to the engineering community, managed the hiring process, and contributed to the overall architectural direction of the platform.
From 2020 to 2022, James worked at Mettle as an Engineering Manager, overseeing the engineering operations. Following that, they joined NatWest Boxed as a Senior Engineering Manager and later as an Engineering Director (Banking Platform). Currently, they hold the same role at Mettle, where they continue to contribute to the banking platform.
James Gawn attended Swansea University from 2003 to 2008 where they earned an MEng degree in Computer Science. In 2009, they became a BCS Professional Member. In 2018, they obtained certifications as a Certified Product Owner and a Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance.
