Timothy Phelps has a long and varied work experience, beginning in 1997 when they joined the United States Army Reserve as a Chemical Operations Specialist. In 2005, they became a Shift Lead at Electronic Arts (EA). In 2014, they began teaching English at North Bullitt High School, where they developed syllabi, curriculum, course structure, assignments, assessments, and grading in compliance with Common Core Standards. In 2016, they became a Teaching Faculty at the Governor's Scholars Program, where they instructed some of Kentucky's top high school students and taught Communication and Social Theory as well as instructor-chosen courses. In 2017, they became a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Louisville, where they instructed two sections of English 101, two sections of English 102, and served as a consultant in the University Writing Center while completing their Master's degree. In 2019, they began teaching English at Holy Cross High School in Louisville, KY. Finally, in 2021, they became a High School Director and Curriculum Designer, as well as a Curriculum Designer, at Miaplaza, Inc.

Timothy Phelps earned their Master of Arts in English from the University of Louisville in 2019. Timothy previously obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English for Secondary Teachers from Western Kentucky University in 2013. In 2011, they attended Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, taking general studies courses. Timothy also attended the University of Louisville in 2005-2006, studying general studies. Additionally, Timothy Phelps has obtained several certifications from the Educational Professional Standards Board, including a Professional Certificate for Teaching English, Grades 8-12 and Rank II in 2019, a Professional Certificate for Teaching English, Grades 8 Through 12 in 2014, and Rank III in 2019.
