Tom Rhodes leads MIB's actuarial function within in the Actuarial and Statistical Group (ASG). This group provides statistical agent services for the New York State Insurance Department as well as maintaining responsibility for intercompany experience studies on life insurance, annuities, pensions, long-term care insurance, disability insurance and private placement bonds. ASG performs actuarial and analytical research for insurance companies and reinsurers, and maintains an integral role in developing new products and services for the insurance industry. His role is to serve as an industry leader and to manage the team of actuaries who form the core of MIB's analytics capability. Mr. Rhodes is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. He regularly presents at industry meetings and at NAIC meetings on enterprise risk management and Principles-Based Valuation and is a former Chair of the Society of Actuaries Individual Life Experience Committee. Prior to MIB, Mr. Rhodes worked for the Guardian Life Insurance Company for 15 years, most recently as Second Vice President and Actuary. He was also Chief Actuary at the U.S. Veterans Administration. He earned his M.S. in Business Administration from Temple University and has a B.S. degree from Oberlin College.
