Troy serves as the President of the Ed-Fi Alliance where he spearheads the adoption of data-driven education at scale. Troy began his work with Ed-Fi in 2012 as the Vice President of Strategic Market Development, helping to evolve Ed-Fi from a nascent project to a widely known standard and ed tech organization. Under Troy’s leadership, the Ed-Fi Data Standard has been adopted by 28 states and powers data interoperability for more than two thousand school districts.
Troy joined the foundation after five years serving as the Chief Information Officer for the Idaho Department of Education, where he was responsible for Idaho’s state education data management systems, including a $21M public-private partnership to implement statewide teacher data tools for personalized instruction. Troy started his career in technology in the late 80s as a Sales Engineer for IBM serving the K12 and healthcare sectors, before leaving to co-found two tech start-ups.
