Sterling Field, Ph.D., currently serves as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Carnegie Institution for Science since September 2021. Prior to this role, Sterling held positions as a graduate student at the University of Tennessee from August 2015 to August 2021, and at East Carolina University from August 2013 to July 2015, focusing on research in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Research experience includes investigating the role of miRNA159 in Zea mays and expression of the transcription factor FRIEND OF LEAFY1 (FOL1) in Arabidopsis thaliana. Earlier involvement includes volunteer work at the Biological Sciences Greenhouse in 2010. Sterling earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry and Cellular & Molecular Biology from the University of Tennessee, following a Master's degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor's degree in Plant Cellular and Molecular Biology, Microbiology with Research Distinction from The Ohio State University.
