Jim van Hoeck

Sr. Director, Engineering Operations at MicroPort Orthopedics

Jim Van Hoeck has a comprehensive work experience spanning several roles and companies. Jim began their career in 1988 as a Product Development Engineer at Dow Corning Wright and later became a Sr. Product Development Engineer. In 1992, they joined Medtronic Spine & Biologics as a Sr. Project Engineer before progressing through various positions such as Manager, Director, Group Director, and Vice President of Product Development. During their tenure at Medtronic, they made significant contributions such as completing over 1000 project requests annually and commercializing system enhancements that generated over $200M in revenue. In 2005, they took on the role of Group Director of Clinical & Regulatory Affairs, leading a retrospective data collection study. In 2007, they became a Sr. Principal R&D/Quality Engineer, focusing on continuous improvement initiatives and instrument servicing procedures. Jim then served as a Sr. Manager of Product Development before becoming the Director of Product Development. In 2016, they joined MB Venture Partners, LLC as an Executive in Residence and later became a Board Member at Cast21. Finally, in 2017, they joined MicroPort Orthopedics, Inc. as the Director of Project Management and subsequently took on the roles of Sr. Director of Research and Development and Sr. Director of Engineering Operations.

Jim Van Hoeck completed their Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa from 1982 to 1986. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution from 1986 to 1988.
