Derek Shaffer Cpcu

Derek Shaffer, CPCU, has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, currently serving as an Underwriting Leader at Millers Mutual Group since April 2007. In this role, Derek has focused on underwriting package products including workers' compensation, BOP, auto, and umbrella insurance across multiple states, significantly increasing written premium from $8.5 million to over $12 million. Derek has a strong track record in property underwriting, excelling in new business production and achieving a leading hit ratio within the company. Prior experience includes roles at Nationwide Insurance and Kemper Insurance Company, where Derek honed underwriting and claims adjustment skills. Derek is also actively involved in professional development and community engagement, having served on the Central PA CPCU Society Board and various company committees. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Penn State University and has completed the CPCU designation.
