Caroline Smith

Caroline Smith is a dedicated zookeeper currently employed at Milwaukee County Zoo since February 2023, with extensive experience in elephant care and animal husbandry. Prior roles include a Level 3 Caregiver/ Day Lead at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, where responsibilities included managing barn operations and coordinating veterinary procedures. Caroline has effectively utilized Positive Reinforcement training techniques throughout various positions, advancing from Level 1 to Level 3 Caregiver while enhancing the well-being of elephants. Previous experiences encompass internships and volunteer work at multiple zoos and animal sanctuaries, where hands-on tasks involved daily care and participation in training sessions. Caroline holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, earned in 2020.
