Nicole Hankus has worked in a variety of roles in the art and education sector. In 2022, they began working as an Integration Guide at Mindbloom. From 2021 to 2019, they worked as a Barista & Brunch Cook at Ferndale Project, a Visual Arts Educator at AVONDALE HIGH SCHOOL, a 7th Grade Visual Art & Design Instructor at Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies, a Summer Art Camp Assistant at REACH Studio Art Center, and a Long Term Substitute Art Teacher at Bloomfield Hills Schools. In 2018, they were an Art Education Intern at Berkley School District and at Waterford Public Schools, where they worked collaboratively with a mentor to gain an understanding of the elementary art classroom, researched, designed and implemented relevant curriculum, and instructed classes of 25-30 students in grades kindergarten - fifth. In 2016, they were a Visual Art Teacher at smART (Saturday Morning Art), where they co-instructed students ages 9-11 and 7-8 in creating visual art projects, worked with a variety of mediums within 2-D and 3-D realms, and utilized digital teaching tools and incorporated contemporary artists and practices. Nicole also worked as a Starbucks Barista at Starbucks in 2016, where they provided customer service by answering questions and customizing orders, operated a cash register and handled monetary transactions, and crafted a variety of drinks and food items.
Nicole Hankus began their education in 2010 at the University of Michigan, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art & Design in 2014. In 2015, they attended Washtenaw Community College to study Chemistry & Visual Art. In 2016, they transferred to Michigan State University College of Arts and Letters, where they received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education in 2017. From 2017 to 2018, they obtained a Teaching Certification from Michigan State University. Currently, Nicole is pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health from Wayne State University, with a focus in Art Therapy/Therapist.
