Alonso Carvajal

Alonso Carvajal is a seasoned professional in the energy sector, currently serving as a Senior Contract Specialist at Ministerio de Minas y Energía since March 2023. Previously, Alonso held the role of Managing Director at EMPOWER from October 2014 to March 2023, where responsibilities included promoting renewable power generation projects, such as biomass, small hydro, solar, and wind. Prior to this, Alonso worked as Power Development Manager at KPOWER, focusing on independent power project development, and served as Country General Manager for ATTS Energia, developing markets for Indian and US manufacturers in power generation. Additional experience includes positions as Power Utility Manager at Emcali, Project Engineer at El Paso, Electrical Construction Manager at InterGen, Site Project Manager at Termovalle SCA ESP, and Project Engineer at Smurfit Carton de Colombia. Alonso holds an MBA from Tulane University and Universidad Icesi, degrees in Finance from Universidad Icesi, and an Electrical Engineering degree from Universidad del Valle.
