Maartje Peters has a diverse and extensive work experience. Maartje is currently the Head of International Cyber Policy at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken since August 2021. Prior to this role, they worked as the Regisseur Vaccinatie at the same company from January 2021 to July 2021.

Maartje's early career included roles as an Associate Expert at the ILO from April 2001 to April 2002, an Associate Expert at UN Women/Human Rights from December 1998 to April 2001, and a Desk Officer for Sub-Sahara Africa at Cordaid from January 1998 to December 1998. Maartje also worked as a Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in 1997.

Maartje Peters completed their Master's degree in Development Economics and International Development from Radboud University during the years 1989 to 2004. Prior to that, in the period of 1982 to 1987, they attended Notre Dame des Anges. In 2006, they studied Islam in the West at Open university UK. Later, in 2014 to 2015, they pursued a field in human resource management at Ardis.
