Sven Sakkov is an experienced diplomat and leader in the fields of foreign affairs and defense. Currently serving as Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia since October 2020, Sven has held significant positions including Director at the International Centre for Defence and Security (ICDS) from September 2017 to October 2020 and Director at the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) from September 2015 to August 2017. Sven's previous role as Undersecretary for Policy at the Ministry of Defence of Estonia lasted from April 2008 to August 2015. Academic credentials include a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in International Relations from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History from the University of Tartu, supplemented by studies at St. Lawrence University. Further professional development includes attendance at the Royal College of Defence Studies in 2011-2012.
