Derrick Maluma has a diverse work experience in civil engineering and military service. Derrick started their career as a Military Officer in the Zambia Air Force in 2002, serving until 2008. Derrick then pursued higher education and worked as a Civil Engineering Student at the University of Zambia from 2008 to 2013. After completing their studies, they joined the Zambia Air Force again as a Deputy Director Works from 2013 to 2015. Derrick then transitioned to the private sector, working as a Civil Engineer at Rankin Consulting Engineers from 2015 to 2016 and at Highway Consultant from 2016 to 2017. In 2017, they joined the Ministry of Local Government and Housing as a Civil Engineer and later became the Director of Engineering at the Ministry of Local Government in 2018.
Derrick Maluma began their education in 1996 at Kabulonga School for Boys, where they completed their Grade 12 Certificate in 2000. Afterward, they pursued a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Zambia from 2008 to 2013, earning a BEng.
