Lauren Avery

Lauren Avery is a Doctoral Student at the University of York and serves as the Minority/Disability Intersectional Discrimination Project Officer at Minority Rights Group International. With a background in research support and development, Lauren has held positions at the University of York, where responsibilities included managing research activities and grant applications, and at the University of Leeds, overseeing projects related to the humanities. Previous experience includes an internship at the United Nations ESCAP focusing on transport policy in the Asia Pacific, consulting for the Royal Thai Embassy, and working in communications and development for the Christian Care Foundation for Children With Disabilities. Lauren holds a PhD in International/Global Studies from the University of York, alongside multiple Master's degrees in Thai Studies and East Asian Development. Educational roots trace back to Liverpool John Moores University, where a BA Hons in Graphic Arts was attained.
