Kurt Schmidt has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and industries. Kurt started their career working in leadership roles at various companies from 1993 to 2003. Kurt then founded Veresis Consulting in 2003, where they advised and provided interim roles for growth-stage companies in biotech, pharma distribution, technology, and media industries. Kurt led client teams of up to 35 individuals during this time.
In 2006, Kurt became the Chief Financial Officer at Agendia, where they spearheaded all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations in the US and Europe. Kurt also transformed the organization from a biotech research firm to a molecular diagnostics firm.
From 2016 to 2019, Kurt served as the Executive Vice President - Finance at MDxHealth, leading the development of financial infrastructure and overseeing strategy, finance, billing, and collections for all US operations. Kurt successfully executed a strategic pivot that reduced annual operating costs by 25%.
Kurt then moved on to Ensysce Biosciences in 2019 as the Chief Financial Officer, where they oversaw the integration of newly merged specialty pharma companies and prepared for a public listing. Kurt successfully integrated all financial systems post-merger and overhauled administrative functions and financial reporting.
Currently, Kurt is the Chief Financial Officer at MiraDx, Inc. since 2020, where they are responsible for the finance and operational aspects of a fast-growing esoteric diagnostic lab in the oncology field. Kurt is overseeing the launch of four specialized tests in 2022/2023 to help physicians and patients make better treatment decisions.
Kurt Schmidt completed their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from Franklin University between 1979 and 1983. Kurt then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in General Management from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, studying there from 1988 to 1992. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have also obtained certifications from the Accountancy Board of Ohio and the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants).
