Dong Jo (Dongjo) Ban

Bioinformatics Scientist at Mission Bio

Dong Jo Ban has a diverse work experience starting with their current role as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Mission Bio since 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2017 to 2023. In this role, they focused on metabolomics and utilized machine learning approaches for early-stage ovarian cancer detection. Dong Jo (Dongjo) also developed data pre-processing pipelines and examined allele-specific expression in cancer patients.

Before joining Georgia Tech, Dong Jo Ban was involved in various roles at The Ohio State University from 2015 to 2017. Dong Jo (Dongjo) worked as a Student Intern, evaluating survival outcomes using a Cox-Regression model. Dong Jo (Dongjo) also served as a Peer Advisor, providing guidance and support to new students, and as a Grader, assisting faculty members in grading assignments.

Prior to their academic pursuits, Dong Jo Ban served as an Auxiliary Police officer in the Republic of Korea Army from 2012 to 2014.

Dong Jo Ban began their education journey at The Ohio State University, where they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Science. During this period, they also completed a minor in Statistics. Dong Jo (Dongjo)'sundergraduate studies lasted from 2010 to 2017.

Following their undergraduate degree, Dong Jo Ban enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dong Jo (Dongjo) pursued a Master of Science degree in Bioinformatics from 2017 to 2018. Building upon this foundation, they then continued their education at the same institution, Georgia Institute of Technology, to earn a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Bioinformatics from 2019 to 2023.
