Alejandro Marti, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and research institutions. In 2000, they worked as an Environmental Engineer Intern at Repsol, where they focused on designing and implementing ISO and EMAS schemes. From 2003 to 2005, they served as a Data Scientist and GIS Specialist for the State of New Jersey, leading GIS and remote sensing projects for various municipalities. In 2003, Alejandro began their work as a Research Fellow and Environmental Engineer at Rutgers University, where they focused on managing the Digital NJMC Meadowlands project and designing algorithms for scientific data processing.
Moving forward, Alejandro joined the University of Exeter/UK MetOffice in 2011 as a Climate Researcher under the Exeter Climate Systems Group. In 2018, Alejandro became the CEO and Co-Founder of Mitiga Solutions, a company specializing in natural hazard risk analysis and mitigation. Currently, they also serve as the Chairman of the UN-ITU Focus Group on AI for Natural Hazards at the United Nations.
