As a Principal Backend Engineer at Mochi Health, you'll play a pivotal role in driving our mission to revolutionize personalized healthcare experiences. You'll help lead the development and evolution of our core systems, ensuring they scale, remain secure, and operate reliably. Working closely with our product and engineering teams, you'll design and implement advanced backend solutions that power our platform.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a team of talented engineers to design and develop our backend services, data processing pipelines, and interfaces, fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency
• Spearhead the development of user-facing features on the backend to optimize performance and reliability, elevating the overall user experience
• Architect and enhance Mochi's backend systems, including the patient record database, high web hook traffic management, third-party integrations, patient scheduling and provider management software, and distributed systems architecture, ensuring they exceed industry standards
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, conducting thorough code reviews and providing constructive feedback to maintain our high engineering standards
• Drive key technical decisions and actively contribute to the strategic direction of our product, shaping its future as we expand and evolve
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in our backend systems

Who You Are

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, demonstrating deep understanding of backend technologies, architectures, and best practices
• Expertise in TypeScript/JavaScript & Node.js, delivering high-quality, scalable code
• Strong foundation in cloud services, advanced knowledge of AWS, and proficiency in container orchestration tools like Kubernetes to architect and manage complex, resilient systems
• Proven track record of successfully building and scaling products and features from inception to deployment, highlighting innovative thinking and the ability to deliver results
• Excel at troubleshooting issues and enhancing performance and maintainability in large-scale codebases, demonstrating dedication to excellence
• Exceptional communication skills enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders
• Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, leading by example, making a significant impact, and driving meaningful change
