Garret Tonra

Garret Tonra began their work experience as an Assistant at McDonald's Corporation in 2006. Garret worked as part of a team to provide polite and professional customer service, ensuring the smooth running of the restaurant and handling cash.

From 2007 to 2010, Tonra worked as an Electrical Apprentice at Rynal Ruane Electrical, completing the qualification process and undertaking domestic and industrial jobs in a professional and courteous manner.

In 2010, Tonra joined CPS | Conveyors & Packaging Services as an Electrical Technician. Garret wired and built highly automated robotic lines for Transitions Lenses in their Philippine plant, while following detailed electrical schematics for successful system integration. Garret also worked in other hi-tech plants such as Hewlett Packard, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic.

Tonra continued their role as an Electrical Technician at CPS | Conveyors & Packaging Services from 2010 to 2013, where they again wired and built robotic lines for Transitions Lenses and performed tasks in various hi-tech plants.

In 2014, Tonra worked as an Electrical Technician at Ward Automation, where they built panels and resolved circuitry faults while following health and safety procedures.

Tonra then joined CPS | Conveyors & Packaging Services again in 2015 as an Electrical Technician. Garret wired automated robotic lines for Transitions Lenses in their Brazilian plant and successfully integrated systems using electrical schematics. Garret also worked in other hi-tech plants.

In 2016, Tonra briefly worked at Vitalograph as a Junior Software QA, gaining experience in software quality assurance.

From 2017 to 2017, Tonra served as an Electrical Technician at CPS | Conveyors & Packaging Services, where they wired and built robotic lines for Transitions Lenses in their Philippine plant, upgraded machines in pharmaceutical factories, and carried out roles in various hi-tech plants.

Tonra then worked at Chanelle from 2018 to 2020 as a Maintenance Technician, responsible for the upkeep and repair of equipment.

Most recently, Tonra joined Modular Automation in 2020 as a Controls Engineer.

Garret Tonra's education history includes a variety of degrees and certifications. Garret obtained a Specialist Diploma in Automation and Controls from the University of Galway in 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Software Engineering from the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology from 2016 to 2018. Before attending the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Garret studied Computer Science and Information Systems at the University of Limerick from 2014 to 2016. Garret also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Computer and Electronics from the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, which they obtained from 2013 to 2014.

Additionally, Garret has a Fetac degree in Electrician from FÁS - Irish National Training and Employment Authority, obtained from 2007 to 2013. Garret has also earned several certifications, including a B.Sc.Software Development (hons) from the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology in September 2016, a fetac level 6 Trade Of Electrician from FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) in July 2007, and a MIG welding certificate from Advanced NDT Solutions in February 2019.
