Dorothy McClelland has a diverse work experience that spans several industries. Dorothy started their career as a Campus Representative Student Coordinator at the University of California, Irvine, where they provided leadership for the Campus Tours program and organized various events. Dorothy then worked at the Orange County Museum of Art, initially as an Education Intern, where they conducted interactive tours and assisted with the coordination of education programs. Dorothy later became a Tour and Studio Programs Assistant, overseeing education interns and providing training in gallery teaching. Additionally, they served as a Tour Coordinator, managing school, public, and private tours.

Following their time at the museum, McClelland worked at Mode-Moderne Journal as a Contributing Editor, contributing articles to the publication. Dorothy then joined the ZERO1: The Art & Technology Network, first as a Gallery Assistant, where they assisted with gallery exhibitions and public events. Dorothy later became an Event Coordinator, increasing event rentals through marketing initiatives and managing contracts and bookings.

McClelland's most recent work experience is with MongoDB, where they held multiple roles. As a Community Events Specialist, they managed the MongoDB Evenings event series, expanding the program and doubling associated pipeline. Dorothy also led the organization of various aspects, such as venue sourcing, speaker arrangements, and budgeting. Dorothy was recognized as the "Top Events Specialist FY17" for their contributions. McClelland then transitioned to the role of Sr. Events Manager, Cloud, where they developed and implemented field go-to-market strategies and managed large, cross-functional MongoDB teams for cloud events. Under their leadership, the number of cloud events increased significantly, resulting in increased leads and pipeline. Dorothy also professionalized the company's participation in AWS re:Invent, enhancing booth presence, advertising, and meetings with customers and prospects. In their most recent role as Sr. Manager, Global Strategic Events, McClelland continued to oversee all aspects of cloud event coordination and managed a multi-million-dollar budget. Dorothy also analyzed the ROI of campaigns to inform the organization's strategy.

Dorothy McClelland completed their undergraduate education at UC Irvine from 2005 to 2010, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and International Studies. In 2007, they also briefly attended the ESCE International Business School, where they focused on France & America and International Business/Management studies.
