James Wahlin has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. James is currently working at MongoDB as the Director of Engineering, Query since October 2022. Prior to this role, they held the positions of Lead Software Engineer and Software Engineer at MongoDB, from November 2019 to October 2022, and from March 2016 to November 2019, respectively. Before joining MongoDB, James was the Lead Technical Services Engineer at MongoDB from October 2012 to March 2016. Prior to that, they spent a significant amount of time at Bloomberg, where they held the position of Technical Lead/Software Developer from December 2003 to April 2012. Their responsibilities at Bloomberg included architecting and building a Bloomberg events calendar.

James also gained experience in the finance industry during their time at Mako Global Derivatives, where they worked as a Software Developer. James led a small team and developed software for exchange and price interfaces, working with various exchanges in Europe and the United States. James started their career as a Software Developer at MarketXT Inc. in 1998, where they co-wrote proprietary Trader and Broker software.

Prior to that, they also worked as a Software Developer at Approach Inc. and Raytheon in 1998 and 1997, respectively.

James Wahlin attended Bronx High School of Science from 1989 to 1993. Following their high school education, they enrolled at Binghamton University from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
