Simon Laughton

Simon Laughton currently serves as the Manager of Sport & Recreation at Moonee Valley City Council, a position held since July 2021, overseeing 52 sporting clubs and 104 community facilities. Prior to this role, Simon was a Project Director at Waypoint, managing the $100m+ Stage 5 redevelopment of GMHBA Stadium in Geelong. With extensive experience at the AFL from November 2002 to August 2019, Simon held multiple managerial positions including State League and International Manager, National Second Tier Manager, Deputy General Manager & General Manager for AFL NSW/ACT, and Game Development Manager, contributing significantly to the growth and management of AFL competitions and community football initiatives. Simon possesses a Bachelor of Business in Recreation Management from RMIT University and completed the Senior Leaders Program at Mt Eliza Business School.
