Alex is a pilot plant technician on Mori’s manufacturing team, working on scaling up laboratory processes to increase silk availability for commercial and research applications. He is responsible for facilitating the transfer of bench technologies to the pilot scale and assisting in upstream and downstream plant operations. Drawing from previous experience as a QA specialist in the beverage industry, he employs physical, chemical, and microbiological techniques and a rigorous adherence to cGMPs to ensure a high standard of product quality.
Alex earned his BSc. in Biology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he worked in the Margulis Lab researching evolutionary microbiology. He is an avid cook and is passionate about food across all stages of the supply chain.
