Katie Horton, a CFP® and CPA, has a diverse work experience in the financial planning and advisory industry. Starting in 2007, they worked as a Senior Tax Associate at EY, where they prepared tax returns for high-net worth clients and handled corporate tax returns for multi-million dollar corporations. In 2010, Katie joined Red to Black® Peer Financial Coaching, where they supported the organization's mission to increase financial literacy for students and the community. Katie trained volunteers, provided continuing education, and conducted financial literacy workshops. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Financial Planner at Integrated Wealth Counsel, creating financial plans for clients and providing ongoing advice on financial planning issues. From 2013 to 2019, they joined HC Financial Advisors, Inc. as a Financial Planner, where they worked with high net worth individuals and families, specializing in retirement planning, cash flow management, and education planning. In 2019, Katie founded their own financial advisory firm, Financial Cairn, where they help clients become financially self-reliant by providing various services such as financial checkups, debt management, retirement planning, and more. Finally, in May 2023, they joined Morrow as the Head of Financial Planning, leading the Navigator Team and implementing strategies to improve advisor performance and client satisfaction.
Katie Horton, CFP®, CPA obtained a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University, where they studied from 2002 to 2007. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master's degree in Personal Financial Planning at Texas Tech University, completing their education in 2011. In 2009, Katie obtained their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification from the California Board of Accountancy. Katie further achieved the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification in February 2015, awarded by the CFP Board.
