Véronique Vastmans

Véronique Vastmans has a diverse work experience in various research and laboratory positions. Véronique started their career at Maastricht UMC+ in 2011, where they worked as a Molecular Analyst, conducting DNA extractions and HLA-typing. Véronique also worked as an Analyst in Immunohistochemistry, specializing in detecting antigens in cell tissue. Additionally, they completed an internship at Pathology, focusing on researching the HPV virus.

In 2016, Véronique joined Hasselt University as a Researcher in Nanobiotechnology. Véronique worked as a Lab Technician in the Biomedical Research Institute, assisting in various research projects. Véronique also worked as a Forensic Researcher, handling sample reception and registration, as well as conducting forensic analyses using specialized equipment and software.

Véronique briefly worked as a Forensic Administration Staff at Eurofins, collaborating with the forensic laboratory of Hasselt University. Their role involved managing the registration and administration of forensic pieces and reports.

Currently, Véronique works at Mosa Meat since 2020. Véronique started as a Laboratory Technician in the Bioprocess Development team, focusing on upscaling in the field of cultured meat. Recently, they have been promoted to the role of Senior Research Associate Lead, managing the team and leading research projects.

Overall, Véronique has extensive experience in laboratory work, including molecular analysis, immunohistochemistry, and forensic research. Véronique has developed strong skills in sample handling, data analysis, and team collaboration.

Véronique Vastmans began their education in 2002 at Atheneum Alicebourg, where they studied Wetenschappen wiskunde. Véronique completed their studies there in 2008. From 2008 to 2011, they attended Hogeschool PXL and earned a Professionele bachelor degree in Agro en biotechnologie, with a specialization in cel- en gentechnologie. In 2011, they returned to Hogeschool PXL and obtained a Milieucoördinator B degree. In 2015, they furthered their education at Academisch Ziekenhuis Maastricht and gained expertise in Veilig werken met vloeibare stikstof.
