Shiraj Sen

Shiraj Sen, Ph.D. has an extensive work experience in the field of robotics and autonomous systems. Shiraj currently serves as a Principal Engineer at Motional, where they are responsible for the autonomy of the company's driverless product launch program. Prior to this, Shiraj worked at GE Research, where they held various roles, including Technical Lead, Senior Robotics and Autonomous Systems Scientist, and Robotic Systems Engineer. During their time at GE, they led multiple research programs focused on autonomous navigation and unmanned systems. Shiraj has also worked as an Advisor for Invii.ai and as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they developed algorithms for robot learning and decision making. Shiraj began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the same university, where they researched planning techniques, learning frameworks, and reinforcement learning for autonomous robots. Shiraj's academic background includes an undergraduate research assistant role at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Shiraj Sen, Ph.D. has a strong education background in computer science and robotics. Shiraj obtained their Integrated-M.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Computing from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2004. Shiraj then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science, Robotics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which they completed in 2007. Lastly, they earned their Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics from the same university in 2012.
