Carl M. Ries

Carl M. Ries is an accomplished finance and administration professional with extensive experience in various leadership roles within nonprofit and business sectors. Currently serving as Vice President, Finance & Administration, Treasurer at Mount Holyoke College since July 2023, Ries previously held similar positions at Hampshire College from July 2021 to July 2023. A significant tenure at LA Opera from July 2014 to June 2021 included roles as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Senior Director of Finance, and Controller. Ries also owned Avery Business Management, focusing on outsourced accounting for nonprofits, and has held accounting and managerial positions at The Alliance for College Ready Public Schools, Jot Creates, Mani's Bakery Cafe, and Crate & Barrel. Ries holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Mays Business School at Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Southern California.
