Markus Wilhelms has held several roles in the healthcare industry since 2014. Markus was the CEO and Co-Founder of MOWOOT, a medical device company targeting intestinal transit disorders, from 2014 to 2021. In 2021, they became an Expert Business Coach (Healthcare) for the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA). From 2019 to 2021, they were a Mentor at IQS Next Tech Accelerator, a program powered by IQS Tech Factory. In 2018, they were a Mentor and Faculty Member of the Life Science Accelerator Baden-Württemberg, created by the City of Mannheim, MAFINEX Gründerverbund eV, Heidelberg Startup Partners e.V., and Technologiepark Heidelberg GmbH. Markus Wilhelms has an extensive education history, beginning in 1998 with a Vordiplom from the Leibniz Universität Hannover in Biology. Markus then completed an internship in Molecular Genetics at the Instituto de Investigacion Medica M. y M. Ferreyra in Córdoba/Argentina in 2000. From 2001 to 2004, they completed a Diplom in Biology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Markus then went on to earn a Diploma de Estudios Avanzados (DEA) in Microbiology from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2006 and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Microbiology and Biotechnology from the same university in 2011. In 2013 and 2014, they completed the Design Health Barcelona (d·HEALTH Barcelona) postgraduate program at Moebio Barcelona in Biodesign, Needs-driven Innovation, Biomedicine, Bioengineering, Design, Business, and Entrepreneurship. Finally, in 2015 they completed the Judge Business School - Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning; Ignite Fast Track at the University of Cambridge.
