Michael Whitney is a seasoned digital engagement and fundraising expert with extensive experience in the nonprofit and political sectors. Currently serving as the Director of Digital Engagement at Mozilla since May 2023, Michael has a strong background in email campaigning and fundraising training, consulting for NGOs and political campaigns from December 2016 to May 2023. Notably, as Digital Fundraising Manager for Bernie Sanders For President, Michael raised over $200 million through millions of contributions from numerous donors. Previous roles include leading newsletter and email strategies at The Intercept, serving as Fundraising Expert-in-Residence at the Centre for Australian Progress, and working with progressive candidates and organizations in various capacities. Michael holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual Media and Political Science from American University.
