James Lohan MBE has had a long and varied career. James began their professional life in 1989 as a Merchandiser and junior designer for Brooklyn. In 1991, they moved to Aspect Communications as a Senior Account Manager, where they ran accounts for clients such as The National Enquirer, International Herald Tribune and Prima. In 1994, they founded Atomic Events, a company that promoted and staged club promotions and corporate events for clients including BBH, AMV, Jack Daniels, Finlandia Vodka and Wonderbra. In 2000, they founded The White House. In 2002, they founded Mr & Mrs Smith and served as the company's Chief Creative Officer. In 2012, they became a Columnist for National Geographic Traveller – Family. In 2014, they took on the role of Non Executive Director for Farncombe Estate Ltd. In 2016, they assumed the role of Non Executive Director for The Lakes by YOO. Most recently, in 2019, they became a Non Executive Director for Mason & Fifth, a lifestyle-led co-living operator focused on community, sustainability and personal wellbeing.

James Lohan MBE attended Seaford College, Petworth, West Sussex from 1983 to 1987 and Worthing Art College from 1988 to 1989.
