Chelsey Smith

Chelsey Smith is a Staff Scientist at MRIGlobal since July 2021, previously serving as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Rice University from August 2013 to June 2021. During the doctoral studies in Bioengineering at Rice University, Smith focused on designing low-cost, point-of-care diagnostics for cervical cancer and SARS-CoV-2 in Dr. Rebecca Richards-Kortum's Laboratory for Optical Spectroscopy and Imaging. Prior research experience includes optimizing nanoparticles for siRNA delivery to tumor-associated macrophages as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Vanderbilt University and working as a Summer Research Intern at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on a project related to health literacy and perioperative outcomes. Chelsey holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
