Jean Gordon Cook, APR, currently serves as the Chief of Communication for the Mississippi Department of Education, where responsibilities include strategic communications planning, media relations, and serving as chief speechwriter for the state superintendent. Prior experience includes various roles at Jackson State University, where Cook directed public relations strategies and taught mass communications courses. Additionally, Cook has worked as a reporter for major publications such as The Clarion-Ledger and THE NEWS STAR, earning multiple national and regional awards. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities from New York University.
