Elan Alford

Elan Alford is a Plant Conservation Scientist at Mt. Cuba Center since December 2020, previously serving as a Conservation Fellow. Prior to this role, Elan held the position of Associate Biologist and Project Manager at WRA, Inc., where responsibilities included environmental assessments and permitting under California regulations. Elan volunteered as the Rare Plant Chair for San Mateo County with the California Native Plant Society from 2015 to December 2019, focusing on rare plant mapping and data collection. Earlier experience includes managing projects as a Senior Plant Ecologist at H. T. Harvey & Associates and conducting research at organizations such as CEMML and University of Pittsburgh. Elan's academic background includes a graduate program in ecology at Colorado State University, complemented by various teaching assistantships and a National Science Foundation fellowship.
