Derick Atem Akangwa

Derick Atem AKANGWA has a diverse background in quality assurance, testing, and software engineering. Derick Atem currently holds the position of Lead Sr. Engineer, Quality Assurance & Testing at MTN Cameroon since 2022. In this role, they have received recognition for delivering exceptional quality products and services. Derick Atem oversees a team of 10 QA and testing engineers, ensuring the timely delivery of demands within the MTN GSM and FinTech portfolios. Derick Atem also acts as a test and program manager when needed.

Prior to their current role, Derick was a SOA L2 Support Engineer at Bluechip Technologies Limited from 2020 to 2022. Here, they were responsible for supporting the MTN Cameroon customer with the maintenance and administration of middleware solutions. Derick Atem ensured the proper orchestration of provider requests and maintained the security and reusability of critical business services. Derick Atem also performed daily monitoring and reporting of 3PP request/response rates and server utilization.

From 2017 to 2020, Derick worked at MTN Cameroon as a Sr. Quality Assurance & Testing Engineer. In this role, they conducted test analysis and design, led static testing reviews, and championed functional testing using open-source test management tools. Derick Atem also served as a quality assurance and testing professional intern, where they tested MTNC solutions to meet business requirements and reported defects using defect tracking tools.

Derick also has experience as a founder/CEO and software engineer at Next Digits from 2017 to 2020, where they developed software and led the company as its chief executive officer. Derick Atem was also a data analyst and DevOps engineering intern at Wouri Academy in 2016.

In addition, Derick worked as a CTO/software engineer at New Generation Technologies, LLC from 2015 to 2016. Here, they created software designs, developed responsive websites and software modules, installed security systems, and performed graphic design tasks. Derick Atem also gained experience as a participant at the Gear-Up Program at the University of Buea, where they worked on a cyber security project involving creating a public key infrastructure encryption/decryption module.

Derick started their career as an academic intern at CAMTEL (Cameroon Telecommunications) in 2014.
