Gerhard Schmid

Gerhard Schmid has extensive experience in risk management and consulting, currently serving as the Emerging Risk Manager at Munich Re since 1998, focusing on the detection and evaluation of emerging risks across various fields. Previously, Schmid held the position of Head of Section Casualty Risk Consulting and Managing Director at Munich Re/Münchener Ecoconsult GmbH from 1998 to 2014, where responsibilities included global risk consulting in casualty and liability areas. Prior to that, Schmid worked as a Risk Manager at Bayerische Rückversicherung from 1992 to 1998 and as an Underwriter Casualty/Risk Engineer at Winterthur Versicherung from 1987 to 1992. Academic qualifications include a Dr. rer. nat in Geology from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and a Master of Natural Science in Geology, Geochemistry, Petrography, and Geoengineering from the Technical University of Munich.
