Prairie Douglas has a diverse work experience in the legal and compliance field. Prairie started their career as a Constitutional Law Teaching Assistant at Northeastern University School of Law in 2015. Prairie then worked as a Legal Assistant at Signator Investors, Inc., John Hancock Financial Network, and as an Enforcement Graduate Legal Extern and Market Regulation Graduate Legal Intern at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
In 2016, Prairie was an Honors Enforcement Intern at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and a Contract Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice - Office of Civil Frauds at CACI International Inc.
From 2017 to 2020, they worked at Greenwich Compliance, a subsidiary of Interactive Brokers Group Company, in the role of Legal and Regulatory Compliance. There, they developed guidance for registered investment advisers and drafted key disclosure documents, compliance policies, and written supervisory procedures.
In 2019, Prairie joined Interactive Brokers as a Counsel, providing legal and regulatory advice on investment management and securities law matters. Prairie also crafted guidelines for programmers and technology staff to enhance risk management controls.
Later in 2019, they moved to Interactive Advisors, another subsidiary of Interactive Brokers Group Company, as a Senior Compliance professional. In this role, Prairie drafted compliance policies and procedures, conducted compliance training, and assisted with the development and implementation of various compliance policies for proprietary advisory products, marketing, custody matters, and more.
Currently, Prairie is working as an Assistant Director of Market Regulation at the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, a position they started in 2022.
Prairie Douglas holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with a concentration in Corporate and Financial Law from Northeastern University School of Law, which was earned between the years 2013 and 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from The George Washington University, majoring in Political Science and History, during the period of 2007 to 2011. In addition to their educational qualifications, Prairie has obtained various certifications, including a license as a lobbyist from the U.S. House of Representatives (Office of the Clerk) in August 2012. Prairie is also a member of the DC Bar and the Massachusetts Bar.
