Adrian Kingston

Adrian Kingston has over 20 years of work experience in various roles related to digital management, collections, and cultural institutions. Adrian started their career in 1997 at the Hawkes Bay Cultural Trust, where they specialized in collection documentation and digitization. From 1999-2001, they worked as a conservation technician at the National Library of New Zealand, focusing on book and paper conservation and imaging.

In 2001, Adrian joined the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa as the Collection Manager for Photography, where they oversaw the management of the photography collection. Adrian later transitioned to the role of Acting Manager of Collections Information Services from 2010-2011.

Returning to the National Library in 2014, Adrian served as the DigitalNZ Services Manager, responsible for acquiring new partnerships and content for the organization. During this time, they developed new metadata models for description and rights classes.

Adrian then rejoined the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa in 2005 and held various positions including Collections Information Manager, Digital Collections Senior Analyst, Digital Operations Lead, and Head of Digital Channels. In these roles, they focused on the development of digital products, managing digital collections access, implementing agile frameworks, and overseeing the development of the updated Collections Online system.

Throughout their career, Adrian has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to digitization, cataloguing, and the development of digital assets management systems in order to enhance access and user experience within cultural institutions.

Adrian Kingston pursued their education from 1994 to 1996 at Wintec - Waikato Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Photography, Design, and Media Arts.
