Jan Johansson

Jan Johansson has over 25 years of experience in the engineering and technology industry. Jan began their career in 1994 as a Sergeant in the Royal Danish Air Force. In 1999, they worked as a Development Engineer at Rolls-Royce, where they were nominated for the Graduate of the Year title. In 2000, they worked as a Stress Engineer at Airbus, where they designed and analyzed the mechanical and hydraulic wing landing gear in a multicultural environment.

From 2002 to 2011, Jan worked at Terma A/S, starting as a Development Engineer and progressing to Design Manager, Design Section Lead, and Chief Design Engineer. During this time, they managed the design department with 12 permanent people and up to 10 contractors, and was the most senior design authority. Jan also managed and participated in several innovation projects.

In 2011, Jan was seconded to Terma North America for a two-year period to establish a design office in the US and support Business Development. Jan maintained the position as Chief Design Engineer in both Denmark and the US, and was involved in current and future F-35 applications and innovation activities.

From 2013 to 2021, Jan worked at the TERMA Group, first as Senior Director of Business Transformation and Continuous Improvement, and then as Product Development Director and Head of Product Management. In this role, they were accountable for the execution and delivery of multi-discipline development tasks, competences, and components to product development, as well as customer specific projects.

In 2021, Jan began working at MyDefence as CTO (Chief Technology Officer). In this role, they are accountable for the execution and delivery of all R&D tasks, competences, and components to product development, as well as customer specific projects, full life-cycle design ownership of all designs & parts, including all innovation activities associated with development. Jan is also responsible for developing the R&D strategy and digitalization roadmap, and communicating the strategy to partners and investors.

Jan Johansson completed a Masters of Aeronautical Design, Engineering and Manufacture in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Bath between 1995 and 1999.
