Sam Bäcklund

Sam Bryfczynski, Ph.D. is a seasoned leader in data science and analytics, currently serving as the Director of Intelligent Products at Slalom since April 2024, where Sam focuses on developing accelerators that enhance user experiences through AI/ML. Prior to this role, Sam was the Senior Director of Data Science at Quest Diagnostics, leading a versatile team to create innovative healthcare analytics solutions. Sam's career at Slalom began in 2018, progressing from a Consultant to Senior Principal, overseeing the Applied Analytics team. Sam also contributed to academia as an Adjunct Faculty at Wayne State University, teaching software engineering to computer science students. Earlier experience includes working as a Software Analytics Architect at Urban Science, where Sam applied data engineering and machine learning to develop predictive analytical models. Sam earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Clemson University in 2012.
