Stefan Magureanu has a diverse work experience in the field of research and machine learning. Stefan currently works as the Head of Research at Myrspoven AB since 2022. In their previous role at Klarna, they served as a Senior ML Research Engineer, where they led the formation of the Web Automation Research team. During their time at Klarna, Stefan focused on developing experimental approaches for reinforcement learning, information retrieval, and classification over the web, with a specific interest in e-commerce websites. Prior to Klarna, Stefan worked as a Machine Learning Research Engineer at Klarna and completed their PhD at the KTH, Royal Institute of Technology. Their research during their PhD focused on fundamental problems in reinforcement learning, specializing in regret-optimal multi-armed bandit algorithms and the application of those algorithms to the cold-start problem in the learning to rank setting and recommendation systems. Stefan also gained experience as an intern at Spotify, where they focused on analytics research related to the design and analysis of novel learning to rank algorithms. Additionally, they worked as an intern in the Research department at Ericsson. Overall, Stefan Magureanu has a strong background in research, machine learning, and algorithm development.
Stefan Magureanu completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer science and engineering from Universitatea Politehnica Bucuresti between the years 2006 and 2010. Stefan then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Software Engineering of Distributed Systems from KTH Royal Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2012.
