Roberto Lo Savio has a diverse work experience history. Roberto started their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Catania, where they focused on synthesizing and characterizing thin film compounds for optoelectronics and photovoltaics. Roberto then moved on to the University of Pavia, where they continued their research on optical properties of photonic devices and developed a prototype of an infrared LED in silicon. Following this, they worked as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, where they focused on the synthesis and characterization of 2D-materials.
Roberto also gained teaching experience as an instructor of physics and mathematics at MIUR and as a contract lecturer at the Università degli Studi di Genova. Additionally, they worked as a scientific animator at the Associazione Festival della Scienza.
Their most recent position is Chief Technology Officer at NTP Nano Tech Projects srl, where they are responsible for image processing, development of AI models for blood cell identification, and R&D projects for DNA/nanoparticles and antibody/antigen assays.
Throughout their career, Roberto has demonstrated expertise in various research activities such as synthesis, characterization, and optical analysis of materials. Roberto has also contributed to advancements in the field of nanotechnology, photonic devices, and 2D-materials.
Roberto Lo Savio completed their education in a chronological order. In 2000, they enrolled at the Università di Catania and earned their M.Sc. degree in Physics in 2005. Roberto further pursued their education and obtained a Ph.D. degree in Scienza dei materiali from the same university from the years 2006 to 2009.
In 2018, Roberto attended the Università degli Studi di Genova for a short period to achieve 24 CFU (Crediti Formativi Universitari) in Pedagogia - Psicologia - Antropologia - Metodologie didattiche.
Alongside their academic qualifications, Roberto obtained an additional certification in the IBM Data Science Specialization from Coursera in July 2021.
