Jessica Abel, MSN, RN, NPD-BC has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Jessica currently serves as the Director of Nursing Education and Professional Development at Nantucket Cottage Hospital since April 2022. Prior to this, they worked at UNC Health, where they held various roles including Clinical Practice and Nursing Professional Development Team Lead from October 2020 to March 2022, Clinical Nurse Education Specialist (Acute Care) from January 2016 to October 2020, and Clinical Nurse IV (Assistant Nurse Manager) from December 2011 to January 2016. Jessica also worked at UNC Health Care as a Clinical Nurse II from September 2002 to June 2011. Jessica began their nursing career at Duke University Medical Center as a Registered Nurse from January 1998 to June 1999.
Jessica Abel, MSN, RN, NPD-BC received their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville in the years 1993-1997. Jessica then pursued their Masters in Science in Nursing degree in Leadership and Education from Northwest Nazarene University from 2015-2017. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the Nursing Professional Development (RN-BC) certification from the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) in January 2020 and the Registered Nurse certification from the NC Board Of Nursing in 1997. Jessica also became a BLS Instructor certified by the American Heart Association in May 2022.
