Neil Hughes-Hutchings CMIOSH AIFSM MRSPH has extensive work experience in health and safety roles. Neil is currently working as the Head of Health and Safety at AfterAthena, where they lead a team of consultants providing health and safety advice, training, and support to clients in the North of England. Prior to this, they held the same position at Napthens LLP, where they also managed a team of consultants and developed health and safety policies and management systems. Neil was also a Senior Health and Safety Consultant at Napthens LLP, responsible for delivering consultancy services and training. Earlier in their career, Neil worked as a Health and Safety Advisor at Thompsons, where they liaised with design teams, developed safety management systems, and managed mobile devices. Neil also has a background in the travel industry, having held various roles at NST Travel Group, including Safety Manager and Safety Team Leader. Neil's work experience demonstrates their expertise in managing health and safety, developing policies and systems, conducting risk assessments, and providing technical support.

Neil Hughes-Hutchings CMIOSH AIFSM MRSPH attended Carshalton High School for Boys from 1990 to 1997. Neil did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study during this time.

In terms of additional certifications, Neil achieved several qualifications and certifications in various fields. In 2023, they obtained the Tier 2 Competent Fire Risk Assessor (CFRAR) certification from The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM). Neil also acquired the Academically Qualified Person certification from the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), The COSHH Risk Assessor Certificate from The Knights of Safety Academy, and the Level 6 Diploma in Applied Health and Safety from AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group.

Furthermore, they obtained several certifications in 2020, such as ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System Awareness from The Knights of Safety Academy, Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health and Safety from AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group, and Level 6 Certificate in Personal Injury Liability and Absence Reduction from AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group. Additionally, they obtained ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management System Awareness from The Knights of Safety Academy and NCRQ Award in Safety for Managers from NCRQ National Compliance and Risk Qualifications.

In 2019, Neil acquired the Level 2 Award in DSE Risk Assessment from the British Safety Council. In 2018, they obtained the PAT Testing Fundamentals certification from Parker Bell (Instruments) Ltd, and in 2016, they acquired the Legionella Control - The Role Of The Responsible Person certification from City & Guilds.

Earlier in their education and career, Neil obtained the NEBOSH Level 3 certificate in occupational safety and health from NEBOSH in 2010, and the Level 3 award in supervising food safety in catering from RSPH Training in 2009. Lastly, they achieved the Level 1 Canoe Coach certification from the British Canoeing Awarding Body in 2006.
