Alex MacDonald is an accomplished economist with extensive experience at NASA, currently serving as Chief Economist, Senior Economic Advisor, and Program Executive for Emerging Space since September 2014. Prior to this role, Alex held the position of Executive Staff Specialist in the Civil and Commercial Space Division at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory from January 2014 to September 2019 and served as Program Manager and Economist at NASA Ames Research Center from 2008 to 2014. Additionally, Alex was a Senior Fellow at TED Conferences between 2009 and 2012. Academically, Alex earned a DPhil in Economic History from the University of Oxford (2005-2012), a Master of Arts in Economics from The University of British Columbia (2004-2005), and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Queen's University (2000-2004).
