James Jacobson

James Jacobson is currently the Airborne Sensor Facility Lead at NASA. Prior to this, they were a Senior Manager at USRA from August 2016 to June 2021. James has also worked as a Data Analyst at the University of California, Santa Cruz from November 2011 to July 2016.

James has extensive experience in data analysis and operations, having worked on various successful Earth Science missions with groups at multiple NASA centers. Their field initiatives have included Operation Ice Bridge (Arctic and Antarctic deployment), HyspIRI (Southern California), S-NPP (Iceland), and SARP (Southern California). James has an intimate working knowledge of ASF array of sensors and equipment, as well as the support software required for data processing, including (but not limited to) MAS, eMAS, MASTER, AMS, PICARD, Applanix/POS, DMS, and DCS.

James Jacobson has a Masters of Science from University of California, Santa Cruz in Earth Sciences, a B.S. from UC Santa Barbara in Geological Science; Hydrology and Engineering Geology, and an Associate's degree from De Anza College in Science Major.

They are on a team with Charles Gatebe - Atmospheric Science Branch Chief (SGG), Don Sullivan - Staff, NASA Ames Research Center - Biospheric Science Branch (SGE), and Matt Fladeland - Ames Airborne Science Program Manager. Their manager is Florian M. Schwandner, Acting Division Chief, Earth Science.
